Video Selections From Some Of The Best Bible Teachers From The Past

introduction

How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?  (Romans 10:14)

About Seminars & Sermons

The goal of The More Sure Word is to provide solid food for living in the Spirit. It is a sad commentary that the spiritual food served to congregants in the vast majority of churches today is milk and not solid food. Babies are fed a diet of milk, but adults require nourishment from solid foods such as bread, vegetables, meat and fish. But what is solid food as regards spiritual food? The Holy Spirit provides some answers in Hebrews chapter five.

12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food.

13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant.

14 But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.

1 Therefore leaving the elementary teaching about the Christ, let us press on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,

2 of instruction about washings and laying on of hands, and the resurrection of the dead and eternal judgment.

3 And this we will do, if God permits. (Hebrews 5:12-14-Hebrews 6:1-3)

Hebrews 5:12-13 tells us that milk is the elementary principles of the oracles of God. Verses 13 and 14 reveal that solid food is the word of righteousness. The ‘oracles of God’ and the ‘word of righteousness’ both refer to the Word of God, the Bible. So the elementary principles of the Bible are said to be milk. The love of God is an example of an elementary principle of the Bible.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. (1 John 4:16)

These verses tell us that God loves everyone in the world because He is love. Therefore, God loves you. That’s pretty easy for most people, especially those who are born again, to digest.

Solid food is also found in the Bible. It may at times even seem to be contrary to the more elementary principles.

“Behold, I Myself have created the smith
who blows the fire of coals And brings out a weapon for its work; And I have created the destroyer to ruin.” (Isaiah 54:16)

“But if they will not listen, then I will uproot that nation, uproot and destroy it,” declares the LORD. (Jeremiah 12:17)

‘I will send the sword, the famine and
the pestilence upon them until they are destroyed from the land which I
gave to them and their forefathers.’ (Jeremiah 24:10)

Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that both good and ill go forth? (Lamentations 3:38)

Passages and verses describing the anger, wrath and judgment of God abound in the Bible. God as destroyer does not match up very well with God being love. At least that’s how it seems.

Solid food is not easily or quickly consumed. Hebrews 5:14 says that solid food is digested only with practice. The Greek word for practice in this verse is hexis (hex’-is). Thayer’s Greek Lexicon defines hexis as: a habit, whether of body or of mind; a power acquired by custom, practice, use. We all know that forming a new habit requires our special attention, diligence and most of all patience. And depending on the complexity of the habit to be formed a guide, teacher or mentor can be helpful if not necessary.

The most crucial ingredient for seeing and understanding the solid food in the Bible is receiving insights (revelations) from the Holy Spirit. Teachers who share the solid food insights they have received from the Holy Spirit are not easily found because they are few in number. This is why the Seminars & Sermons section of this site right now contains only material from teachers such as Milton Green,
David Wilkerson and Art Katz. Addition material from the teachers will be added as the teachers and their materials are discovered.
